An early Christmas thought: Fixing the Christmas plate

It was not so difficult to fix my beloved Christmas plate. Just a wee bit of patience, care, and listening to Shaun’s directions. Voila!  We fixed the plate in very little time.

The plate looks great now and hopefully I’ll find a nice home for it.

A new addition to my technology: My sound bar

It never fails! Every time those technicians visit my home to conduct updates, they never leave without having damaged something or other. This time it was my sound bar.

The technician damaged it when he was moving things around and I had to go out and buy a new one. Thank goodness that the company compensated me for the expense.

My new sound bar is much better. The audio output is really good so at the end of the day I can say that everything happens for a reason as the new sound bar is much better than the previous one.

Proud of myself: Fixing the laundry room door

I have to admit that upon completion of this task I felt a bit of pride rising up in me. I had to take my step stool to help me reach the top of the door.  Then, I had to carefully slip the little wheel back into its track and to make sure that it was sliding properly.

Patience, patience!  Careful, careful!  However, I did it and I can live to tell the story!

A huge shock: When I discovered...

And it was quite a discovery. I was dusting my dining table and chairs soon after I had a visitor and I happened to place my hands below the seat of the chair where my visitor had been sitting and, oh no! To my chagrin it was broken!

I checked a few times to reassure myself that I was correct and alas! My poor chair was broken. The seat was split. Now I had to find someone to fix it.

Thank goodness for Nick who gave me the name of a wonderful furniture man who fixed it for me. I guess that it never ends but all's well that ends well.

A moment of patience: Trying to fix my Rosary

Not too long ago, as I was changing the sheets on my bed, I discovered that my Rosary which I always keep under my pillow had broken. That is, it had come unhooked and I was extremely unhappy.

This Rosary was very special to me as my mom had given it to me after my dad had passed on and I had guarded it with my life as it meant the world to me.

After several tries to re-hook it, I gave up. But before this, something else had happened. My precious Rosary had gone missing when I was changing my sheets and I spent several minutes searching for it. I had become very anxious and had even started to cry as I searched because I felt that without it I would not be protected.

I tried to be logical in my quest for my precious Rosary and when, at last, I found it, I kissed it. This is when I discovered that it had become unhooked.

I had first asked my friend Sue to help me and she did. But after it had, again, become unhooked it was my neighbour Sandra who helped me to permanently hook it again.

My precious Rosary is now back under my pillow where it belongs!

Quite an experience: When my business phone died

Looking back on this experience, it probably was not as difficult as I had first thought.

First, there was no dial tone. Next, when I tried to reboot the phone line it kept cutting in and out and it was the same for if/when I would hear it ringing. So, I reasoned correctly in the end that I needed a new phone but before this I decided to call a phone technician to verify my diagnosis.

He simply said that I needed a new phone but I went further to reason that it was because of the loose connection. I was bang on the money.

So, now everything is back to normal. I have a new phone.

Just another daily challenge: Trying to fix those small gadgets

Sometimes it is not too bad but there are times when they can be a challenge for me. I have had mixed success but I am happy to say that I have enjoyed and continue to enjoy the challenges.

I really use this as therapy: to sit, think logically, and then fit things together. Things such as my little radio, my talking clock, my hair remover, and more.

Most of us may not look on this as therapy but I certainly do. I have really come to enjoy it.

A surprise! When did the picture go cloudy?

Looking back at this experience, I can’t help but smile to myself.  I would never have known that my TV’s picture was now cloudy were it not for David and Sandra telling me.

Yes, it is now cloudy and I need to find a way to fix it so that Mom will be able to enjoy her movies and programs when she watches TV at my home.  It does not matter for me as long as the sound is good, but not for Mom.

There is always something to fix when it comes to my cable box and my TV and it does not matter when the picture became cloudy. It's just another challenge in my life to overcome.

Conquering a bit of technology: Fixing my air globe

I can certainly laugh about it now and truth be told I did enjoy this little experience a few weeks ago.

It was a Saturday morning when I started to do my weekly house cleaning and I noticed that my air globe was not working.  I unplugged it and took the globe to my kitchen counter leaving the adapter behind.  Upon examination of the globe itself I did not find anything wrong with it so I went back to retrieve the adapter and bring it to the kitchen counter.

I started methodically: first to examine the part of the adapter that goes into a socket and then to work my way upwards to the connector that goes into the globe itself.  It did not take me very long to find the culprit.

Bingo!  It was the connector, and the two tiny parts that need to fit snugly into each other in order to enable power to flow through the entire adapter to the globe.  You can't imagine how relieved I felt and awfully proud of myself.

In just a few minutes I had become a self-made Ms Fixit!  And now I was ready to take on the rest of the world!
