What color is my wine?

A few months ago I was invited to a dinner get together with some girlfriends of mine and I offered to bring a bottle of white wine. The girls expressed a preference for said color so I first checked my stock and discovered that I had a bottle that was just the perfect size for this occasion. The only problem was that I did not know what color it was.

So off I went to use my stand alone scanner to see if I could determine the color. No such luck! The scanner could not read it so then I tried using my scanning app on my iPhone. Not much success there, so then what?

I phoned one of my girlfriends and we came up with the brilliant idea of asking the cab driver and sure enough! He told us! The lesson to learn here is that when you are unable to determine something as a blind person, do not give up! There is always a solution if you search hard enough. Fun? Sometimes it sure can be, and then again, sometimes it is a challenge but something to solve at the end of it all!

"Each time we raise our voice at someone else we are engaging in bullying! Each time we raise our hands to slap or punch someone else we are also engaging in bullying and each time we engage in actions to either manipulate or force someone else to do what we want we are also engaging in bullying!

There is no room in this world for bullying and each day we fail to take action against bullying it is another day that we allow others to bully us and our kids. Our heroes and role models are the ones who have made us proud, those brave young men and women who gave their lives for us in past wars and those who continue to do so. They are not the ones who choose to be racists and those who believe that their bad behaviour in public is acceptable.

I write and record audio mysteries that are being used at such events as murder mystery evenings as well as at public awareness and team building events. I promote understanding, tolerance, and problem solving and my audio mysteries continue to be broadcasted around the world and you can listen to them anywhere! On the plane or train! In the car or right there in your home! On your i device or computer!

Please join my campaign against bullying (CAB) by supporting my efforts to keep on writing and recording!
If you truly care then you will certainly dare!"

Remembering the lollypops

Oh boy! How well do I remember them and they are one of my favorite kid memories. I used to love to just look at them neatly displayed on our counter without touching them. I used to love to look at the colors, and of course! Yellow was always my favorite, followed by purple then red. As a matter of fact, I loved all of the colors and various shapes.

I think that my mom knew how much I used to love to look at them and she never fretted whenever I would sneak over to have a look. Of course, I also loved to eat them, crunching and just enjoying the delicious flavors.

Now that I can no longer see my favorite lollypops, I use my imagination and memory to help me out. I can still conjure up these memories with little or no effort. Ah yes, those wonderful memories of lollypops. At birthday parties, at Christmas time, and on a Sunday afternoon when the family would be taking things easy.

Big ones! Small ones! Fat ones! Thinner ones! Brightly colored ones! All kinds of lollypops!

I'm Donna J. Jodhan your friendly accessibility advocate wishing you a terrific day and inviting you to go out there and tell others about my memories of lollypops.

"If you either are or have been a victim of crime, violence, abuse, or bullying, and if you are simply tired of being bombarded with audios and scenes of the above, then I am asking for your support. I have written and recorded audio mysteries that are completely void of vivid descriptions of sex, crime, and violence because I firmly believe that it is time for us to use the spoken word to help influence our kids to start listening to content that is clean and healthy. By doing this we can all do our part to tackle crime in a positive and meaningful way and it only costs pennies per day.Visit my online store at www.donnajodhan.com/store.html.
I thank you and your kids will also thank you!"

Those candy bowls

How well I remember those very colorful candy bowls. I simply used to love to stand and watch the multiple colors of candy in my bowl when I had enough sight to do so. I would cram my candy bowls full of multicolored candies of all shapes and sizes and then place the bowl carefully on my credenza.

Whenever I remembered and had a moment, I would walk over to where my candy bowl was sitting and then I would proceed to stand there and simply get lost in time. You may think that this was a bit strange for me but there you have it. As I may have mentioned in previous blogs, color was my world when I had enough sight to appreciate it.

I still enjoy color but now in a different way. By remembering and imagining. By bringing back old and dusty memories of the world of color for me, and why not? My candy bowl was just one important part of it all.

I'm Donna J. Jodhan, your friendly accessibility advocate, wishing you a terrific day and asking you to share my world of color with others. Come by any time and visit me at www.sterlingcreations.ca/blog.
