She is the boss: Moving the plants around for Mom

Oh boy, are they heavy and cumbersome, but Mom is determined that they be placed exactly as she wants them to be. She tells me what to do and I follow her instructions as best as I can.

Sometimes I lift the pots but most times I push them and every now and then I give them a hard shove.

The sun shines down on me as I work, and at the end of it all? Mom’s plants are in their correct places just as she wants them to be.

My beautiful butterfly: Josafine

Not sure how I came up with this name for our little beauty but this is what she is. I cannot see her as she flies around but I can picture her in my mind.

She is all white.  She flies around Mom’s patio without any fear.  She flies around us as we sit on the patio in the  morning.

Of course she is silent but it is enough to know that she is near. Mom and I are always only too pleased to welcome her and Mom describes her every movement as she traverses the patio.

That’s my beautiful Josafine!

An unusual young man: Carl, the saving grace

I am not sure how to describe this unique and special young man.  He has been nothing but a saving grace to Mom and to me whenever I visit Mom.

Carl is positive. He is helpful and very committed. He thinks on his feet and nothing is ever too much for him.

Carl goes beyond the call of duty when it comes to being there for Mom.

Bless you, Carl.

A temperamental TV: The challenges with Mom's TV

It does not matter that I have mastered the process of using the remote to  Mom’s TV.  No!  It seems as if her TV has a mind of its own. Especially on mornings when we wake up.

Sometimes it comes on and sometimes it does not. However, there is one thing that we discovered. The batteries to her remote needed to be changed. Sean Warwood discovered that. This has helped somewhat but her TV is still very temperamental!

Having fun! Mom and I continuing to work together

These are priceless memories that I shall treasure forever. Ever since Mom fell in 2023, we have managed to carefully build a team of two.

Every time I visit her, we resume our working relationship. We do so many things together; Mom walking along with the aid of her walker and me walking behind her. Sometimes I would either walk in front of her or beside her.

We water the plants together. We do laundry together. We do so much in the kitchen together. We eat together, and this is our teamwork.

Teamwork at its best: Mom and I doing the laundry

We now have this down to a routine. Together we go to the laundry room. I put our dresses in the washer. Then I keep tabs on how many until we reach either five or six.

I turn on the tap and Mom puts in the laundry soap. I close the lid and then washing begins.

At the end of it all? I take the laundry out of the washer. Then Mom and I shake out the clothes and I put them on hangers and then hang them to dry.

The final stage comes when I gather up the clothes and bring them to Mom for her to sort into distinct piles and then neatly fold. Together we put them away in our respective cupboards.

So very enjoyable: Mom resuming her cooking activities

Believe it or not my precious Mom is cooking once more. She is going slowly but surely. She remembers everything that she needs to put into her dishes.

She is very meticulous in her task. She first lays out everything then proceeds like the pro that she is to create and make her dish.

Easy as she goes and at the end of it all? She has done it!

Refreshing: Maura and I working together

Life is really a very funny thing, eh? I met Maura when she was dating my brother Jeffrey and so many years later she is back in my life.

Her husband is my lawyer and we have developed a very comfortable and enjoyable friendship.

Maura is not afraid to say what’s on her mind. She is very intuitive and so very helpful. She is always there and someone that I can count on!

Dealing with change: The New RBC manager

She is quite different from my other manager, Nadya. She is not as friendly but nevertheless she appears to be quite welcoming.

It always takes time to get used to a new manager but I am ready.

Maura seemed to like her when we met. So this is a good sign.

Getting ready to flap my wings: Packing for trip November

There is always an air of excitement when I get ready to flap my wings to visit Mom. Especially so at Christmas time.

I truly enjoy packing my suitcases piece by piece. I think of all of the goodies that I’d like to take for her and to just imagine her delight at receiving them all.

This time I am packing an apple crumble, the poinsettia plate, a stuffed turkey breast, and so much more. Maybe I’ll put some surprises in as well. Happy times are here again!

A labour of love: Poinsettia plates ready

Oh yes, and they are ready for their trip to Mom! I can’t wait for her to see this new one!

I truly enjoyed making this particular one! I took my time with each petal and with Shaun’s help each was carefully placed on the plate.

This poinsettia plate is so very pretty!  It stands out and I am just dying to give it to my precious Mom!

Just hoping: Getting ready for the craft show

I have to thank Ran and Blair for helping me with this.

They certainly encouraged me to enter the craft show and along with their young son, Adrien, they were great to arrange my pottery pieces on the display table. They labeled the pieces for me and stayed with me throughout the show.

Yes, we made a few sales and for a first time it was a good start.

Thank you, Ran and Blair.

Thank goodness for him: Imad to the rescue

Imad has never disappointed my requests and this time he came to the rescue to try and resurrect my very sick desktop computer.

Yes, he managed to get my desktop back up and running but at the end of the day I knew that I had to get a new computer.

This particular computer lasted me for six years. We certainly walked the walk together and she served me very well. I am not ashamed to say that I shed a tear after finally deciding to put her to bed.
