A different experience: Sue's different car
I always seem to know when Sue has pulled up at my driveway in her car. For some reason her car makes a unique noise when it arrives and I am right there to hear it.
However, on this particular day she fooled me when she arrived in her mom’s car. I had to smile to myself when she called out to me when she arrived and she was so quick to see the surprised expression on my face.
I smiled to myself as I walked towards her. Such a funny experience.

A funny experience: Looking for the piece of rubber for my step stool
Looking back on this incident now, I can probably smile a bit more. What happened here is that the piece of rubber had fallen off of the edge of one of the legs and I did not catch this until I picked it up from the bottom and noticed the missing piece of rubber.
I did not know that it had fallen off because of course it did not make any sound when it did. So I had to retrace my steps and think hard as to where I had used it.
This strategy worked and before long I found the missing piece of rubber lying on the floor in my coat closet. Truth be told, this is probably one of the more interesting challenges for me as a vision-impaired person. That is, when things fall down or off and there is no sound to tell me that they have.
So I need to be extra careful whenever I pick up things. I need to make sure that all of it is intact.

What happened in the shower!
Well, this is one of my lighter moments in life and one that I had to laugh at after it all happened. Let's just say that for a sighted person, and if they were paying attention, it would not have happened and this is why my memory needs to be on the ball at all times.
Here is the story. I hung one of my sweaters to dry on my shower's head. I went away and the next morning when I went to take my shower I turned it on as usual but somehow I found that the water was not running very heavily. My first thought was that something was wrong with the shower's head and that I had to call the plumber! Oh boy, more expenses for me! Then I realized what was going on here! My sweater was hanging on the shower's head and thus it was getting in the way of the running downpour of the water.
By the time that I had realized what was going on, my sweater was soaked through and had to be placed in the washer to be spun dried. For me as a blind person, it is important for me to remember where I have placed things so as to avoid such accidents.
Humorous, yes! Take it with a smile? Definitely so! Try my best to avoid it in the future? Most certainly!

How Full is My Glass
It is as full as I want it to be. I have dreams like anyone else. I have hopes, desires, wishes, and aspirations. I am constantly seeking ways to make things better for others; blind children of the future. I live in a developed country that offers me a good life. Of course, there will always be things that I would like to see improvements to but I am a positive person and an optimist.
Whenever I am a bit down the first thing I do is to think of
I'm Donna J. Jodhan your friendly accessibility advocate wishing you a terrific day. If you smile at the world, then it will smile back at you!
