Comfy and cosy! My favourite little corner

Whenever I visit Mom I do, indeed, have a favourite little corner.

Each morning I sit in a rocking chair in her master bedroom and there I spend about half an hour, reading the prayers of the day, checking on my emails, then to the BBC news, CBC news, then to Facebook, and finally to check on my Canadiens hockey team.

I usually start my day at around 4 a.m. when the house is very quiet. I can hear the birds waking up and some of the workers preparing for the day.

I can smell some early cooking emanating from close by eateries and restaurants.

Oh, yes!  Just sitting in my favourite little corner to start my day!

I am very pleased: Checking out the new pottery studio

I just can't say enough about my new pottery studio: so pleasant, so welcoming, and it is going to allow me to be much more creative than I ever thought.

When I met Sister Helen for the first time, I knew that I had just met one of the nicest people to walk into my life. She was so kind, generous, and her bunny family sure helped me to get acquainted.

This studio is going to be a much different one than Joan's studio at Pleasant Pottery. However, I am eternally grateful to Joan for having taught me so much. She got me started and taught me the rudiments of pottery.

I am looking forward to creating a lot of new things with Sister Helen. This is really going to help me stay creative and imaginative.

An important change for me: Big decisions

In early March, 2020, I announced on Facebook that I had decided to step away from being an active advocate.  Surprisingly enough, the decision was a lot easier than I had anticipated and I guess that it all had to do with me
realizing that it was time to go.

As former Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau once said, "There is never a good time or good place,” but this time it was for me. As a matter of fact, it was the image of his famous walk in a roaring blizzard on February 29,
1984, that egged me on to make my momentous decision.

I have decided to only work on very few projects and this will free up more time for me to pursue other things: chess, pottery, and knitting among them. I look forward to happy times ahead.

Famous magic words! Where is Mustard?

This is what I asked Mom when she first got her hearing aids. We were at the hearing clinic and she was being tested and fitted for her hearing aids.

She was sitting about five feet in front of me and the Audiologist asked me to say something to her. I asked her, "Where is Mustard?" and her immediate response was, "Mustard is in the zoo!"

I shall forever remember these words because I knew then that Mom was now hearing me loud and clear! She was once again hearing and now it was time to make sure that she stayed with me and the rest of the world, using her new
toys!

Such a treasured childhood memory: Daddy's dance with Yella

She was his favourite dog and he was her favourite person and every evening when Dad returned home from work, he would treat us to his dance with our fat, chubby yellow Lab, Yella.

It always seemed as if she knew what time Dad would be coming through the gate to our home.  There she would be, excited, wagging her tail back and forth and up and down and barking happily.

Dad would take her two front paws and dance with her! Yella would bark happily while the rest of us looked on. As long as both Dad and Yella were happy, then so was I.

This is a memory that shall forever be imbedded in my memory: Dad and Yella dancing when he returned home from work!  What a dad and what a dog!

So happy to have them back: The return of the chairs

I was just so very happy when my chairs returned after having been reupholstered.  Now it was time to get used to them.

New material for me to familiarize myself with.  The new height of the seat. The new thickness and texture of the material.  In short, the feel and touch of my reupholstered chair.

Nothing better than having either new or reupholstered chairs to sit on. Finally, the smell of the new material.
