Great excitement! Susan helping with my new doll shelf

Thank God for Susan who stepped in to help me set up my doll shelves in my bedroom.

I have promised myself that these would be the final dolls that I will add to my overall collection. They are all the dolls that I bought on my trips to Europe in 2022, 2023 and 2024. They are all very precious and hold special memories for me.

First, Susan chose the spot where the shelves should go. I then consulted Mom, who was so very quick to agree and it amazes me that she remembered every detail of the layout of my bedroom.

Then Susan and I went shopping to purchase the shelves. This after she had shown me some of her own shelves. Then Nick put them up. Then, finally, Susan came over and set up the display for me.

I was so very thankful to her, Nick, and Mom. When one does not have the sight to decide on certain things, it always helps to have reliable and enthusiastic folks around.

More changes are here: Condo complex changing

It cannot be helped when it comes to changes at our condo complex.

Converting from one provider to another is just one thing. It all means that I have to learn to navigate new remotes and how to find my favourite channels.

Then, new elevators that are faster and more quiet, but there are new features that make it easy when it comes to accessibility.

Thank goodness that we still have Nick and Jen; Super and Office Manager.

Unexpected! Microwave misbehaving

Is it my microwave or is it me? If my microwave does what I expect, then it behaves. But if it does not do as I expect, then what?

Is it misbehaving or is it me?

I am quite pleased with my new microwave. Actually, it is not that new anymore. It is an important part of my kitchen and I depend on it almost daily.

So much fun! Returning to pottery

I openly admit that pottery is probably one of the brightest spots in my life. I enjoy simply imagining and creating.

I love working with Shaun and interacting with my fellow potters.

I enjoy every aspect of pottery. From imagining, scoping, hand building, glazing and then cherishing the final product.

Shaun is a very gifted teacher and I am very fortunate to have him as my instructor.

This needs to be fixed! No documentation for fire tips

Regrettably, this continues to be a sore point for me.
That is, when there are no documents in alternate formats available to blind and vision-impaired persons.

It does not matter how much I work to build awareness. In many cases it is working but there is the odd gap.

It is even more concerning when an important document, such as fire tips, was not available to me at my condo complex.

When I first asked the office manager to help me gain access to the fire tips in an alternate format he told me to go to the website and get them myself.

When I gently reminded him that it was the condo management’s responsibility to provide all documents in alternate format and that under the Condo Act it was my right to have them available, he changed his attitude and now things are back on the right track.

Finally!A blind Barbie

Finally, a blind Barbie has made her way onto the market and this is way overdue.

I bought her in September 2024 and she stands proudly amongst my other dolls on a shelf in my bedroom.

She comes with a cane and glasses. She is smartly dressed and I am very proud to make her a part of my doll family collection.

Faster and smoother: The new elevator

Oh yes, the new elevator is very fast and silent. I have to strain my ears to hear it coming.

Then, when I enter I have to make sure to know which button to press. There are Braille markings on the buttons and Stephie has shown me where my most used buttons are. So now I am more able to navigate safely and accurately.

The new elevator is different to the old elevator in that it announces when you reach your destination and when it reaches the ground floor. The elevator beeps as it passes each floor.

Good elevator!
