He frightened me: Feelings of a twin

I guess that I never really paid too much attention to this, given that I am a twin. I have a twin brother, Jeffrey!  I have often heard others say that the bond between twins is probably stronger than between or among mainstream siblings.

I was certainly treated to a huge emotional ride when Jeffrey had to have unexpected surgery in early February.  Before he shared his news with us, I experienced deep feelings of concern and trepidation and could not understand why.  However, I sure did when he shared his news with the family.

I further experienced more of these feelings when he had a bit of a relapse following his surgery but this time I was more than prepared to deal with the fallout.

I dealt with things more logically and effectively and this time I kept my emotions more under control.   Am I closer to him now?  Yes and maybe!

A new challenge: Searching for the hearing aid

My poor, precious Mom!  She has enough problems ensuring that her hearing aids stay firmly in her ears but when she has to wear her mask and her glasses along with said hearing aids, well!  It is definitely not very pleasant.

Fairly recently after having returned home from shopping, she lost track of one of her hearing aids and we both had to spend time tracking it down.  We searched all of the shopping bags, Mom’s purse, and checked the counters.  I even took my cane and used it to check under the cupboards and counters and under the stools, chairs, and tables.  We must have spent almost half an hour looking and checking.

Then finally Mom found it!  Nestled in the elastic of her mask.  What a relief and I personally thanked God that she had found it.  These little devices are so easy to lose track of!  And poor Mom is constantly checking behind and inside her ears to ensure that they are there.

Frustrating moments: When Zoom does not work

When Zoom works it works like a charm, but when it does not, then nothing doing.

I discovered this on my recent trip to the Caribbean.  You see, I had to pick and choose the times of the day very carefully when it came to scheduling Zoom meetings in the neck of the woods where I was located.

Between 10 a.m. and noon worked well followed by anytime after 3 p.m.  However, any other times of the day and I ran into tons of difficulties.

For the most part, whenever I was successful in connecting the reception was quite acceptable, but there were several times when clarity of voices was a problem.

Zoom continues to help me stay engaged with my associates and friends and is proving to be very effective in helping to keep me in the loop.

One of my favourite spots: Mom's kitchen island

I simply love Mom’s kitchen island.  It is quite easy to clean, its surface is nice and smooth, and it is just the right size for her kitchen.

Not too long and not too wide.  Just the right height and so easy to pile things on it and to find what I am looking for.   This island is a Godsend for Mom.  Its location in her kitchen is exactly right.  Close to the fridge, stove, sink, and just everything.  Just do not try to lift her up!  You’ll be quite shocked!
