Very disappointing: When Rogers missed the boat

 Maybe this telecommunications company does not care but maybe they should.

When they fail to fully explain that they cannot provide a service, or maybe I should say that they are a bit too lazy to explain why they are unable to provide a service, this is when they lose longtime customers like me.

In today’s world too many do not take the time to either explain or to tell us what is going on. We seem to have lost our way when it comes to customer service. And in the blink of an eye, a customer is lost for good.

If only most of our technicians were just like Lane! The best ever Bell technician.

Lane was patient, went above the call of duty, and went out of his way to help me learn how to use my new remotes for engaging with my TV and cable box.

He took the time to explain. He took the time to understand how I needed to learn and above all he filled the session with entertaining anecdotes.

Excitement is building: Getting ready for my Apex course

 I know only too well that, as they say, I will have my work cut out for me.

It is an honour to have received this prestigious scholarship from Nova Coast and at the end of it all will lie a prospective pot of gold. Two wonderful certifications that are cybersecurity related.

My hope is that this will open a new door for me. So, off I go on my very exciting and interesting journey.

Great expectations: Getting ready for the new computer

All I can say is that I need to take a very deep breath before embarking on this new phase.

Yes, a new computer and saying goodbye to the old one.

Shane and I have already scoped out the specs for the new computer and now we hope and pray that it will not be too challenging for the setup stage.

I have done my best to provide Shane with all of the files and programs that he will need to make the transition. Now we wait to do it all.

A new pottery project: Starting to make pet rocks

 

It was just a stray idea that I had while sitting down with Shaun in the pottery studio. Why not pet rocks?  For, after all, pet rocks had been a fad quite a few years ago.

I made several of them but was not really happy with their shapes. So, some day soon I’ll try again!

Easy come easy go! When the yarn bowl fell

 

What a crash and what a disappointment! One minute my treasured yarn bowl was in my hands and the next it was on the floor in pieces.

A few years ago I had made it at pottery with Joan, my pottery instructor, guiding me. I was very proud of my yarn bowl and I had also made one for Rochelle. I guarded and treasured it with my life but on this day there was no way to stop this from happening.

My treasured yarn bowl slipped out of my hands and fell gently to the floor. I knew before bending to pick it up that it had broken into pieces. Now I was left with sadly gathering up the pieces and then taking it to the garbage.

Not my favourite thing: Back home and readjusting

Like so many other times, no difference for me when I return from visiting Mom. I arrive to a very quiet condo.

I turn on the lights, put down my luggage, and then set about to connect my iPhone, computer, and Victor Stream. Then I do the usual walk about around the condo and after a bit I retire for the rest of the evening.

No different for me: same old, same old! Now to get ready to resume my life all by myself.

Time to ponder and reflect: A long flight

 It is supposed to be about five hours but these flights from Trinidad back to Toronto almost always feel like double the time.

The ritual is always the same. I get checked in and these days Ramlall brings me to the counter. He is so very patient and walked with me from the car to the counter with my luggage.

He did a masterful job at guiding me. Ramlall pulling one suitcase and me the other. I get through security, up to the lounge, and then time to board.

I do my best not to think of leaving Mom behind. I sit in my chair, pray hard, and do my best to concentrate on the road ahead. Not a very pleasant journey ahead but it is a journey that must be done.

Sad moments: Saying goodbye to Mom for another time

                                                           

It only gets more difficult each time I prepare to leave my precious Mom for another time. My visits to her are priceless and each visit holds so many wonderful memories for me.  

This time, as I sat next to her in the car, I took her hand in mine and promised myself that I would return much sooner than later. Somehow, though, the sooner is never soon enough.

Mom never complains but patiently waits for me to tell her when I’ll be returning. I leave with a very heavy heart and do my best to live with my conscience.

Saying goodbye to my precious girl is always going to be the hardest thing for me.
